The Franklin Daybreak Rotary Club 26th Annual Charity Golf Tournament was held on May 17-18 at The Golf Club at Mill Creek. The 2015 date will be posted in August.golf2014putting

This year marked the 14th year that Mike Wood has organized the Golf Tournament for Rotary

Wood opted to revert to a familiar format. After three years of playing captain’s choice, the tournament was played in two-person teams playing best ball.

The entry fee was$125 per player. The field was split into four flights.

Cash prizes were awarded to the top three places in each flight:  $500 for the first-place team; $300 for second; and $200 for third.

Players were able to schedule a practice round for an $18 cart fee on Friday, May 16.

golf2014goThe tournament started at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 17 with a shotgun start, and a lunch was provided. Sunday’s round started at 10 a.m., with a buffet lunch and a spaghetti dinner at the awards ceremony.

Tony and Brenda Munger are the new owners of Mill Creek after purchasing the club this past fall. The course was in fabulous shape and the food was amazing.

Thanks to all our sponsors, the tournament generated about $10,000 in 2014.

Monies raised help New Century Scholars, Special Needs Boy Scouts, Books for MVI library, Scholarships to Nantahala Seniors and SCC Continuing Students and other charities.
